You'll NEVER "fix" the problems with social media until you fix the school system here. As long as teachers indoctrinate children with their insanities, instead of teaching reading cursive, and math, and self discipline, things will only get worse. No child should sit in front a screen ---whether jumbo-tron or cell phone --- for more than an hour a day. Our kids are reality blind. They should be reading, aloud. And not the multi-radical crap they're fed about "we all the same." We're not. There are nutbags and there are sane folks, and children need to learn the difference.
Those teachers have likely been radicalised by social media or at least had their views enforced by it. Social media is one part of it I agree. Removing all Marxist ideology from our institutions would be a very good start.
Thanks for this. I'm trying to mind my own business, anymore. It's hard. I'm a very opinionated person and I have my core beliefs which have shaped my life. They aren't hostile beliefs, but they do have boundaries. One is to live and let live, unless there's a threat to my family or myself, of course. Anymore, there are a lot of threats out there and cause for concern.
The polarization is wild. So are the algorithms. I can see their obvious tempts to manipulate, especially on YouTube. You watch one video because you're curious about the views of the other side, and then your feed is full of rage bait. So you try to watch videos that conform to your view to try to fix your feed, and you still end up with the opposite of what you want. (I've noticed this with vegan stuff. I want vegan videos. YouTube serves me videos about how vegans are stupid. Is the algorithm that dense... or is that on purpose?)
On platforms like Facebook, I basically only use the groups now, because I can visit them individually and read chronologically. Otherwise, FB just shows me the same few trending posts over and over.
I too have a friend who went down the path you describe. His steep decline into hate and unreasonableness seemed to be around the twin events of George Floyd/BLM and covid. By 2021, he just was not the man I used to know, but I think he unfriended me before I could mute him. It was sad.
I am religiously glad I abandoned what little social media (Gab, Poast, Instagram) I was on back in June. At the time, it was a mental and spiritual bother, keeping me from writing. Now? I cannot imagine what those fever swamps are like.
Well said. I have watched this downward spiral of our society as the left becomes more and more extreme (or is that insane?). Many of the things the Democrat party pushes today would not be supported by a majority of democrats 25 years ago. And most of that nonsense is what led to Charlie Kirk's death. These people cannot stand to have their nonsense exposed, so they do everything they can to quiet the resistance - and many of them are so far outside of reality that they become the hated things they accuse their opponents of.

One must step outside with caution.

I really believe the left is a small group of wannabe elites manipulating a group or groups of mentally ill
People so there numbers are larger

The left is that way because of immoral leadership. Hence, a leadership change must be induced.
